I'm using RapidSpellWeb v2 on a website running on .Net 3.5. The spell checker targets a textbox control. The textbox uses the HtmlEditorExtender control from the AjaxControlToolkit.

Unfortunately, it appears that RapidSpellWeb and HtmlEditorExtender don't work well together. After the spell check popup closes, the spelling corrections are not propagated back to the textbox. The spell check works perfectly well on textboxes that don't use HtmlEditorExtender.

Upgrading to a newer version of RapidSpellWeb is not an option for me at this time. I'm one of a team of developers, and I can't upgrade the website to a new version of the .Net framework until we all do, and that's not going to happen right now.

Can anyone shed some light on this issue? Is there any way to make RapidSpellWeb and HtmlEditorExtender coexist? Or am I just out of luck?

Thanks.

Hi Grinell, version 2 of RapidSpell Web predates ASP.NET AJAX, so it was never expected to work with HtmlEditorExtender.

- You can upgrade to the current version of RapidSpell Web without upgrading .NET - we have separate DLLs for .NET 1.1, 2+ and 4+.

- Besides upgrading you might want to try implementing the custom TextComponentInterface (described in the user guide) and after it sets the text, you can put focus back in the HtmlEditorExtender, sometimes these controls don't update the backing textarea until the user focuses or clicks for example.

Harry - Thanks for the tip about upgrading. I successfully upgraded RapidSpellWeb to v4. And despite my assertion to the contrary, we upgraded the entire site to .Net 4.0 today.

The bad news is, the original problem remains. I'll look into your other suggestion - implementing TextComponentInterface - tomorrow.
