We are using v2010.4.1.708. For some reason it seems the indexer is not properly indexing a .xlsx file on our system. I cleared the logs then ran the indexer, then look over the log files and nothing jumps out at me. The file clearly has the words "travel authorization" in one of the cells but the file is not returned by the indexer when you search those terms.

What specifically should I be looking for in the logs? I saw the file in several of the log files, but no errors were shown. It seems it was indexed just fine.

I can send you the file and the logs and the indexer files if you can help.

Let me know and thanks.

Yes, please send the file Barry. My feeling is that we addressed something about Office documents after v2010. It may be that other cells have run together in the text, so if the prior cell was "2010" then it might have indexed a word as 2010travel - if you see what I mean.

Thanks, I indexed just the XLSX file you sent with 4.1 (actually it's a bit newer build than yours, I can send if need be) and it indexed/searched fine.

I downloaded your index and was able to find a similar document 77ba89e1-8572.....20094..xlsx with the query: travel authorization form gas company diem (it has to be that long otherwise there are too many results for the grid). I used the search form in the Index Management Tool.

Is that document the same file as the one you sent (just different name)?

Thanks for taking the time. On my end, on our production server, I did NOT get a hit.

However, to complete the testing I took the actual file you sent me, deleted the existing file on production, uploaded this one in its place and reindexed and behold: it worked.

There must have been some bizarre corruption or hiccup at some point and I just had to switch out the doc with a new one and reindex.

Go figure. From now on, that will be a first step if this happens again.

Again, thanks for taking the time to look into this. We will eventually upgrade but do not have the funding to support the necessary code changes on the multiple sites that use the service.
