Words like A1 are not spell checked. Is there a way to enable that?

Yes, set IgnoreWordsWithDigits to false.

But please note that the user's options can override that, so if you already have options saved (which you will on any nonfresh machine) then it will default to true and override the property. By user options I mean the form shown by clicking on "Options" from the dialog spell checker.
